Bio
Umbilichaos is a slow and crushing solo project from São Paulo, Brazil, founded in 2007 by Anna C. Chaos – composer, poetess, guitarist, singer, and sound programmer.
Abolishing conventional structures in favor of a cinematic and immersive approach, Umbilichaos evokes a vast range of emotions and thoughts. The sound draws inspiration from an eclectic palette of influences, including Joy Division, Celtic Frost, Neurosis, Godflesh, Melvins, Swans, Tool, Converge, Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth, Portishead, and many more.
Through more than a decade of activity, Umbilichaos has released 12 records among other works, and has performed intensely across South and Southeast Brazil as well as Europe. Constantly evolving, the project seeks to build an epic, apocalyptic musical language that pushes the boundaries of metal, noise, and experimental sound.
